Name
The Intersection of Homelessness, Child Welfare, and Benefits Access Among Michigan's Children and Youth
Description
Children and youth who experience homelessness are served by multiple public systems, however, to date the overlap between these systems is not fully understood. This session will use administrative data from Michigan's homeless services, child protective services, and benefits systems to understand how children interact with these systems over a four-year period of time. Opportunities to prevent first time and recurring episodes of homelessness will be discussed. Data will be shared at the state and county level so that participants can consider opportunities for improvement tailored to their local area.
