Christie Minervini has spent nearly 15 years advocating for people experiencing homelessness in Traverse City, Michigan. She has served in board leadership roles for Safe Harbor of Grand Traverse, the Traverse City Human Rights Commission, and Goodwill Northern Michigan. Christie co-founded the Street Advocate Facebook group, served on the advisory board of Speak Up Zine, and was a regular columnist on housing issues for the Northern Express. She played a key role in advancing the City’s Homeless Bill of Rights, Emergency Shelter Ordinance, and Safe Harbor’s Special Land Use Permit. She also helped lead the purchase, planning, and $1.85 million fundraising campaign for Safe Harbor’s permanent shelter. Through this work, Christie has built trusted relationships with local government officials, nonprofit leaders, and philanthropists, which she continues to leverage to advance housing solutions. She holds a B.A. in English and Art from the University of Iowa.
