I have been working in housing stability and support services since 2020, including programs such as
CERA, Permanent Supportive Housing, ESG Rapid Rehousing, and Homeless Prevention. In my current
role at Neighborhoods Inc. of Battle Creek, MI, I focus on Shelter Diversion and Steps to Stability. I am
also a Certified HUD Housing Counselor and lead homebuyer education and financial literacy courses.
My passion for this work is deeply personal. I experienced homelessness from June 2019 to December
2020, at the height of COVID-19. Because of the eviction moratoria and a lack of available housing, my
situation was prolonged. This lived experience allows me to truly understand the fear, stress, and PTSD
that often linger even after housing is secured. I know firsthand that no one plans to be homeless, and
this fuels my dedication to helping others achieve lasting stability.
