Chris is an independent consultant with a specialist interest in the areas of innovation and futures thinking.
From 1980-2010 he held a number of roles in IT companies, Honeywell, ICL (now Fujitsu), HP, Microsoft and Cap Gemini. He was also head of Public Sector Innovation for Microsoft UK.
Alongside his corporate career he has held posts in the Third Sector, including being a Trustee of the School for Social Entrepreneurs, a member of the UK Committee of the UK-Canada Colloquia and is a Patron of the National Association of Able Children in Education. He was a visiting Fellow at Warwick Business School.
He was for 10 years the BCS blogger on the socio-technical implications of Technology Advances. He blogs for Long Finance on the future of the financial system.
He has worked across many sectors of public and private sector in a variety of roles.
He has contributed to, written and edited a number of books around his areas of interest and has been a frequent speaker on these topics. His speaking engagements have included the Royal Society, Royal Society of Arts, British Council, EU, World Bank, UN and the Club of Rome.
He has had extensive engagement with public policy in the UK and EU through Think Tanks, Advisory Groups and working parties.
Through lockdown he has concentrated on working for a number of bodies on grants, investments and loans assessment for post pandemic recovery.
