The words we say to ourselves matter. First, our thoughts lead directly to our feelings, which impact our behaviors. If we are saying to ourselves, I am not good enough. Or I don't belong here. You are likely going to feel bad, sad, or unworthy. By shifting your internal voice to, I am good enough. Or I belong here. You will start to shift your perspective. You will start to feel empowered, with practice. This will allow you to feel good, or worthy. This is the premise that assists folks in overcoming imposter syndrome and burnout. Affirmations are positive statements that can help you when you feel upset or trapped in negative thoughts, including anxiety triggering thoughts, and imposter syndrome thoughts. What seems like a simple concept, when put into practice, can be a very powerful tool. By replacing worry, stressful thoughts, or anxiety with affirmations, you can start to change your thinking.
