Dr. Jenny Schuetz, a Senior Fellow at Brookings Metro, is an expert in urban economics and housing policy. She has been researching housing for more than two decades and has written numerous peer-reviewed journal articles on land use regulation, housing prices, urban amenities, and neighborhood change.  Dr. Schuetz has appeared in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, the PBS NewsHour, The Indicator podcast, Vox, and Slate. For her keynote,  she will be joining us virtually while on the road promoting her new book, Fixer Upper: How to Repair America's Broken Housing Systems, sharing highlights of her research. Fixer Upper provides practical ideas to provide affordable housing to more Americans. 

Dr. Schuetz will then join a panel at BMCC moderated by Amy Hovey, Executive Director, Michigan State Housing Development Authority, to discuss Michigan’s first Statewide Housing Plan with President and CEO of Ginosko Development Company, Amin Irving, newly appointed by Governor Whitmer to the Michigan Statewide Housing Partnership, responsible for implementing the Statewide Housing Plan, and Yarrow Brown, Executive Director of Housing North, Lead agency for the Northwest Housing Partnership.
