Chris Garland is a urban community and economic development professional with over 15 years of experience in both Detroit, Michigan and Cleveland, Ohio. Chris has a strong history in both cities of utilizing research-based methods, leveraging strong partnerships, and implementing creative solutions to deliver positive neighborhood and city-wide impact. Chris currently serves as the NCST Community Development Manager for Michigan and Ohio which brings him in close contact with the diverse group of CDCs, governments, and mission-based for profit housing developers throughout both states. Prior to joining NCST, Chris served as Assistant Director of City Planning and previously as the Commissioner of Neighborhood Development for the City of Cleveland. Chris has also had direct CDC experience as Executive Director of Jefferson East Inc. (Detroit) and Tremont West Development Corp. (Cleveland).
Chris is a graduate of Wayne State and resides in Cleveland with his wife, Ann and four children and is an active member of Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood.
