Name
Effective Stewardship for Students with Dyslexia
Description
Most students with disabilities, particularly those with learning disabilities, spend the majority of their school day in general education classrooms in both public and private schools. As educators, we are stewards of learning for all of our students even if we do not feel specifically trained to do so for the range of learners we now encounter in our classrooms. Dyslexia is the most common disability. In this session, we will explore what dyslexia is, what it is not, discuss the key elements of Michigan's K-12 Literacy and Dyslexia Laws, and take away strategies for supporting students with dyslexia and similar reading challenges in our classrooms.
