Am I Being Ableist?: Supporting Neurodivergence in the Early Childhood Classroom
Description
Early Childhood teachers are often a child's first teacher. As children enter the preschool classroom, neurodivergence or developmental delays may be suspected or identified for the very first time. Teachers can be an integral part of a child's advocate team, armed with knowledge, experience, an inclusive mindset, and access to resources. Join us to examine ableism in the Early Childhood classroom: what is it?, how can we recognize it?, and how can we avoid it? Learn, discuss, and share resources and strategies for how Early Childhood teachers can support neurodivergent students, manage behaviors effectively, and partner with other experts and parents to build an intervention plan tailored to meet a student's needs.
