How tough passages in the Bible lead to learning
Description

Devotions in Christian schools often gravitate toward familiar passages and predictable interpretations, yet Scripture invites us into a deeper, more formative encounter. In this workshop, we will explore how engaging challenging biblical texts, within a supportive, dialogical classroom practice, can open students to richer learning and more resilient faith. Drawing on long experience in teacher education and leadership formation, we will look at simple, communal reading practices (including a modified Chavruta approach) that encourage students to read carefully, write reflectively, and discuss openly. Together, we will consider how devotional life in the classroom can move beyond quick answers toward habits of attention, humility, and trust in God's ongoing work through Scripture. This workshop aims to strengthen both teachers' confidence in leading devotions and students' capacity to engage the Bible with honesty, curiosity, and hope.
