Bridging the Gap: Building Strategies for Cultivating Unity Through Civil Discourse and Cultural Humility
Description

In an increasingly polarized and contentious world, our students are growing up surrounded by division - and they're watching how the adults around them respond. As Christian educators, we have a sacred opportunity to model a different way: one rooted in love, grace, and truth. Bridging the Gap: Building Strategies for Cultivating Unity Through Civil Discourse and Cultural Humility invites school leaders and teachers to explore how to lead with humility, foster empathy, and guide students in engaging others with compassion rather than defensiveness. This interactive session equips participants with practical tools to nurture belonging and cultural humility in their classrooms and communities. Together, we'll unpack how insular school cultures can unintentionally hinder unity - and learn strategies to transform those barriers through intentional dialogue, personal storytelling, and culturally responsive practices. Through engaging small-group discussions, case studies, and guided reflection, participants will practice civil discourse and active listening skills they can immediately apply in their own school contexts. The session will conclude with concrete action planning to help you lead your school community toward deeper understanding, empathy, and Christ-centered unity.
