Nicknamed the “Dumb Ox”, St. Thomas Aquinas’ body of writings have endured time and provide the lens to know and understand what it means to live freely and joyfully. This talk will unpack the essential connection between the body and soul. We will draw upon Catholic tradition which identifies specific powers of the soul and how the faculties of the intellect and will act together. The intellect seeks truth, the will desires the good – with our emotions giving energy to our actions. Hence, the whole person is ordered toward God. Understanding these foundational principles will equip educators to fully integrate virtue and modern neuroscience to raise children for secure attachment and in God’s grace and love.
