Tom Kuhar is a Professor and Vegetable IPM Specialist in the Department of Entomology at Virginia Tech. He has been a regular speaker at the MAFVC since the mid-2000s. Dr. Kuhar's research focuses on integrated pest management of insect pests of vegetables and other crops. He has trained 26 graduate students and has published over 130 peer-reviewed papers and 6 book chapters on insect pest management. A native of Baltimore, MD, he received his B.S. degree in biology from Towson University, Towson, MD in 1992 and his Master's (1996) and Ph.D. (2000) degrees in entomology from Virginia Tech. He was a postdoctoral research associate at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY before becoming a faculty member at Virginia Tech where he has been since fall 2001.
