This session will include a deeper look into a child�s brain and the specific parts of the brain that are involved in the process of reading. We will the examine the order in which these parts develop and how they build into a circuit-like system in the brain. This session will discuss the impact of when parts of the reading brain circuitry remain underdeveloped, including a brief visit to how various methods or approaches of reading instruction have overlooked aspects of and/or the order of development of this reading brain circuitry. Finally, we will provide suggestions to integrate into classroom instruction to mitigate gaps in reading development and further strengthen appropriate parts of the reading brain circuitry.
