As music educators we have a rich opportunity to build safe, inclusive classrooms through the literature and music we share with students. Planning ahead with specific attention to the five social emotional learning competencies (self awareness, self management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making) will support cultivating a safe space in our classrooms.
