Manjiri is a licensed architect and an urban transportation professional. She worked in an architectural field for the first 9 years of her career. Her architectural experience includes work on all phases religious, residential and institutional buildings from schematic design to construction administration. She taught architectural courses at the University of Texas at San Antonio and assisted in teaching architectural engineering courses at the University of Texas at Austin.
She transitioned to a career in urban transport in the last two decades overseeing capital and transit planning and projects.
As the Vice President of Program Delivery at VIA, she currently oversees the horizontal and vertical capital projects, medium and long range plans, projects and studies. She is responsible for delivery of VIA’s Keep San Antonio Moving program of projects.
Manjiri is also part-time faculty in the Urban and Regional Planning program at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
During her 20-year career as a transit professional, including 15 years at VIA, she has gained experience in various aspects of running a transit agency. She has worked on long and short-range planning, transit service planning, scheduling of work and workforce allocations, capital facilities planning and development, real estate acquisition and disposition, bus rapid transit (BRT) planning, BRT operations and management, transit vehicle specifications, maintenance guidelines, and transit innovations and research.
As an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Planning at CEPT University (2009-2014), she developed and taught seminars and studios focused on public transportation planning, rail / BRT project development, urban design, and transportation.
Manjiri is passionate about community, equity in mobility, and data-driven decision-making processes. She brings her extensive academic knowledge and research to her day to day work to make the best use of the available resources to achieve maximum efficiencies.
