Karin Morris, AICP, is the Director of Community Planning at the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, the metropolitan planning organization for Greater Philadelphia, where she oversees initiatives around smart growth, community and economic development, climate and environment, and sustainable energy. She received a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan and undergraduate degree from Ohio Wesleyan University. She has been a Knight Fellow in Community Building at the University of Miami, and a German Marshall Fund Urban and Regional Policy Fellow. She has served on the boards of the Delaware Valley Smart Growth Alliance, American Planning Association Pennsylvania Chapter Southeast Section, and the Passyunk Square Civic Association. She has served on several research panels for the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine. She is also a Practitioner Site Visitor for the Planning Accreditation Board, which accredits all undergraduate and graduate degree programs in urban planning in North America. She has presented at national conferences such as the American Planning Association, New Partners for Smart Growth, and Railvolution (now Mpact). A proud native Clevelander and South Philadelphia resident, she is particularly interested in issues affecting older industrial cities.
