Dr. del Rio is a Senior Scientist member of the staff at the United States Potato Genebank Research Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His work targets diverse aspects of potato genetic diversity conservation. In particular, how diversity is expressed and organized at ex situ and natural habitats and, how molecular marker technology can be used to assist potato germplasm organization, collecting, utilization and conservation. His work also includes collaborative international research aimed to use genetic resources to enhance potato agriculture and food security in developing countries.
