"My name is Karla E. Hernández Ortiz. I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus. I have collaborated with nonprofit organizations to provide psychosocial support to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. I have also worked as an outreach coordinator and community organizer, focusing on eradicating gender-based violence through education and dialogue with communities. Additionally, I have collaborated on campaigns centered on human rights to integral health, dignified housing, and food security. I have addressed issues of psychological trauma, historical and social trauma, and have worked to dispel myths about mental health, self-care, and community care. Currently, I lead the Community Impact Division at the Center for Habitat Reconstruction with the mission of achieving community development and well-being."
