Dan serves as the Assistant County Administrator for Resident Services and County Auditor in Hennepin County, MN. He is notably the named individual defendant in Tyler v. Hennepin County, and was a leading advocate for the 2024 legislative revisions to Minnesota’s forfeiture laws to align with the Supreme Court’s decision in Tyler.
Dan has been an Assistant County Administrator since 2020. From 2000 to 2020, he practiced law in the Civil Division of the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, where he represented the county and its employees in both state and federal court, including representing Hennepin County in the U.S. Supreme Court case Minnesota Voting Alliance v. Mansky in 2018.
In addition to his career at Hennepin County, Dan has also served his community as a council member in the City of Robbinsdale, MN from 2002 to 2018. During his tenure, he focused on revitalizing Robbinsdale’s downtown through successful private-public partnerships.
Dan is a graduate of New York University School of Law.
