Shane LaPorte currently serves as the Director of Community Development and the
Assistant City Manager for the city of Jackson, Michigan. Shane completed a 34-year career in
law enforcement followed by 6 years in various code enforcement roles prior to his time as
Director, and has served the City of Jackson for over 40 years. Shane has spent his career
using strategic efforts to combat blight for the betterment of the health, safety, and welfare for
the entire community. Shane has also served a coach and mentor for 34 years, and is an active
guest lecturer in the community. In his spare time Shane enjoys farming, and he has spent 10
years engaging in environmentally sound farming practices.
