Lisa Tencer
The Vera Institute
Lisa Tencer is a program associate with Vera's Opening Doors to Housing initiative, working to expand housing access for people with conviction histories. Before joining Vera in 2023, Lisa worked at a fair housing center in New Orleans, where she investigated housing discrimination faced by tenants and rental applicants, helping to build legal cases. She also previously worked as a legislative caseworker for Congressmember Rashida Tlaib. Lisa is also an organizer. She has advocated for Palestinian human rights, and is a board member of Detroit Jews for Justice, which organizes the Metro Detroit Jewish community in support of racial and economic justice. She holds a BA from the University of Michigan and an MS in public and urban policy from The New School.
