Kathleen, a planning consultant in Metro Detroit for over 15 years, specializes in urban design and planning. Kathleen applies her design and policy expertise to a range of projects from site-specific redevelopment strategies to citywide comprehensive plans to district form-based codes with an emphasis on equity and resilience. Kathleen is a principal at SmithGroup, received her master of urban and regional planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and bachelor of science in architecture from the University of Michigan. She serves on APA-MI’s Government Relations and Law Committees and ULI Michigan’s Housing and Community Development Local Product Council and co-chairs the Women’s Leadership Initiative.
