Kevin Laviano has over 34 years of experience in affordable housing in various leadership and management positions with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Mr. Laviano served as a Program Manager in REAC where he was the Deputy Project Manager for National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE), Director for REAC’s Inspection Standards and Data for Vouchers (ISDV) division running the NSPIRE-V demonstration and Project Manager for the Remote Video Inspections (RVI).

Mr. Laviano began his career at HUD in 1989 where he worked in various positions including ten years as a special assistant and subject matter expert in HUD’s Recover and Prevention Corps (RPC) assisting troubled public housing authorities (PHAs). In 2009, Mr. Laviano worked on a national team to monitor and track Recovery Act (ARRA) funding ensure all PHAs reported their activities to the Department.

In 2010, Mr. Laviano served as a Division Director in the Cleveland Public Housing Field Office where he managed a team of financial analysts and engineers that provided oversight and monitoring of PHA finance and capital projects of PHAs in the State of Ohio.

In 2014, Mr. Laviano served as the Director of Public Housing in the Cleveland Field Office. During his time as director, he received a Secretary’s Award and a Federal Employee Wings of Excellence award for his leadership in creating a “Home for the Holidays” initiative. By collaborating with PHAs, Veterans Affairs (VA), local service providers and other partners, the Home for the Holidays initiative housed over 75 homeless veterans using VASH vouchers from Thanksgiving through Christmas in 2015.

Kevin Laviano holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with an emphasis in project management from Ashland University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Kent State University.

Mr. Laviano is a lifelong Clevelander and currently lives in North Ridgeville Ohio with his wife Diane. He has five children Jordan (31), Edward (22), Nicholas (19), Michael (18) and Gianna (12). He also has a grandson Bennett (2). Mr. Laviano loves to spend time with his family and enjoys boating on Lake Erie, golfing and rooting for his favorite Cleveland sports teams and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
