Lawanda Villard is a dedicated community advocate and the current Director of Sustainable Housing at EastSide Community Network (ECN), a role she has excelled in for nearly two years. Born and raised in the Jefferson Chalmers area on the eastside of Detroit, Lawanda's deep connection to her community has been the driving force behind her commitment to creating positive change.

Starting her journey at ECN as a coordinator in the Sustainable Housing Department, Lawanda's exceptional leadership skills and unwavering dedication quickly led to her promotion to Manager and subsequently to Director. Under her guidance, the department has flourished, reflecting her passion for sustainable development and community empowerment.

Lawanda's expertise is backed by a robust set of credentials, including her RRP (Renovation, Repair, Paint) certification, Lead Abatement Supervisor License, and Michigan Builders License. These qualifications have not only bolstered her professional capabilities but have also enabled her to make a tangible impact on the lives of Detroit residents.

Through her work with the Detroit Home Repair Fund (DHRF) program, Lawanda has played a pivotal role in the rehabilitation of over 20 homes, addressing critical health and safety issues and ensuring that families have a safe and secure place to call home. Her goal to give back to the community she has known and loved for so many years is evident in every project she undertakes.
