Kimberly Haygood joined as staff with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in September 2021. She currently serves as a Community Planning and Development Representative in Detroit’s Office of Community Planning and Development (CPD), where she is responsible for monitoring compliance and providing assistance to Entitlement and Continuum of Care grant recipients. Prior to HUD, Kimberly served as a city planner for the Detroit City Planning Commission where she worked as a land use planner and advocate for local community needs and equitable development. As Planning Commission staff, she also advised the City Council and prepared recommendations on land use policy, rezonings, tax abatements, development, and Community Development Block Grant funding. Kimberly earned her undergraduate degree, her Master of Social Work, and Master of Urban Planning degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
