Katie is an Opioids Policy Specialist in the Office of the Chief Medical Executive at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), where she focuses on the advancement and execution of Michigan’s Opioids Strategy and serves as the lead staff to Michigan’s Opioids Task Force. Katie’s background includes extensive experience as a Support Coordinator at Avalon Housing in Washtenaw County, providing trauma-informed care using a housing-first approach. Her front-line work in housing support and substance use service delivery informs her current efforts in shaping recovery housing initiatives within Michigan’s Opioids Strategy. Katie holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Michigan, specializing in Health Management & Policy.
