Yarrow Brown joined Housing North in May of 2020 having over 15 years working for a non-profit. Yarrow spent over 12 years working for the Leelanau Conservancy and brings a diverse background in watershed and strategic planning, real estate transactions, project management and diverse technical skills. Her background includes working diverse groups of people from landowners to government employees, lake associations, township officials and many more. She sits on the Peninsula Housing Board of Directors (a regional Community Land Trust), is part of the Executive Committee for the Northwest Michigan Coalition to End Homelessness and recently joined the Board of the Fair Housing Center for West Michigan.
Yarrow is a graduate of Antioch College with a degree in Environmental Science, and she attended Antioch New England for graduate work in Conservation Biology. Yarrow has a background working with area stakeholders on various projects from watershed planning to strategic mapping to organizing outreach events. She has organized events, workshops and drafted various publications including master plan chapters, watershed management plans, annual newsletters, brochures and website content.
Through private consulting, Yarrow has worked across the U.S. and throughout northwest lower Michigan. She served on the Cleveland Township Planning commission for 2.5 years and sat on the Leelanau Clean Water board representing the Leelanau Conservancy for over a decade. She resides in Leelanau County and owns a 13-acre farm with her husband and daughter. Yarrow is passionate about working towards projects that will establish more work force housing and to work on regional efforts that involve collaboration with area organizations, stakeholders and help develop policy to support these efforts.
