Many of us hear, “The first year is just about survival!” & are encouraged to find a mentor as we begin teaching. This session shares one first-year music educators’ journey from student teacher to young professional as he navigates the first months of his career. Together, he & his long-distance mentor provide attendees with real-life strategies for maximizing their time as undergraduates, preparing for day one in the classroom, & finding joy, humor, & success in “surviving.”
