John Churchville is the founding member of Sumkali. He has played drumset for 30 years and started his study of table drums in 1998. He has his BFA in world music performance from Cal Arts, and his master's in Music Education from the University of Michigan. John is a two time Grammy nominated music educator and has engineered and produced and recorded on dozens of albums.
