Henry Pakela, trombonist and educator, is a graduate of the University of Michigan (BFA Jazz Studies ‘18, BM Music Education ‘18). During his time at Michigan, Henry was a student of Dennis Wilson, Ellen Rowe and Andrew Bishop in the Jazz Department, and within the Department of Music Education, Henry was mentored by Colleen Conway. Henry is currently an active educator and performer in the Ann Arbor and Metro Detroit, and is currently teaching as a jazz mentor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Civic Youth Jazz Ensembles. He is also a member of the Moving Mind Orchestra He has assisted Professor Wilson in various projects, including the 2017 U of M Bicentennial Jazz Festival.
