“Music-nology” the Chrome Music Lab and Upper Elementary Music/Poetry Project
Friday, January 26, 2024
10:00 AM - 10:45 AM
Description
This technology-inspired project incorporates a process-based approach to create a multi-faceted student-led video. Students worked for two weeks (a total of ten 40-minute class periods) to create their videos. Tasks included: 1) writing a themed poem with a rhythmic feel, 2) composing musical loops using Chrome Music Lab, 3) creating and drawing story boards, 4) recording themselves reciting their poems, 5) taking photographs related to their themed poems, and finally 6) using editing software to create their videos (audio plus photographs). Each student worked independently on their own student-issued laptop while receiving assistance from both the music and technology specialist teachers. This session will take you through the steps that we took during a year when Covid limited our ability to provide traditional music classes, yet offered us a new way of learning with music.
