Description
This session will focus on the often unknown or overlooked yet spectacular repertoire for the viola written by female composers. This music will be analyzed, with short excerpts performed live. Composers will include: Rebecca Clarke, Nokuthula Ngwenyama, Jenny Higdon, Elaine Fine, etc.

Learning Objective 1
The audience will become familiar with (perhaps) new female composers, and look to these women for their viola works or even further music composed.
Learning Objective 2
The audience will hear and appreciate several of these works, becoming acquainted with new repertoire for the viola.
Learning Objective 3
The status of female composers will be elevated and recognized, given the visibility provided by this presentation.
