Description
This session will feature a demonstration 7th & 8th Grade Tenor/Bass Choir from Traverse City West Middle School. Students will demonstrate vocal techniques and music literacy skills as well as a variety of rehearsal strategies. We will also field questions and demonstration requests for how to address challenges faced in the classroom including pitch matching, vocal range, part placement, tonal approach, and anything else attendees may want to know.

Learning Objective 1
Attendees will gain a greater understanding of the middle school tenor/bass voice and how to work with students going through the voice change.
Learning Objective 2
Attendees will be inspired by students who are learning how to navigate vocal challenges through teamwork and a foundation of music literacy and vocal technique.
Learning Objective 3
Attendees will find answers to their questions as they interact with the director and students through an open-ended Q&A regarding any issues they experience with their own students regarding everything from vocal technique and music literacy to recruitment/retention strategies and rehearsal techniques.
