Disability Studies in Music Education: Toward a Theory of Disability
Saturday, January 25, 2025
8:00 AM - 8:45 AM
Description
This workshop explores the medical and social model of disability and considers how the social model might be useful for our music classrooms. We examine the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as a framework for the classroom and explore how different ways of representing knowledge, expressing knowledge, and engaging learners might allow us as music educators to serve all of our students. We conclude with applications for music education.
