This session will address creating an online applied music program through examples from the online Associate in Arts in Music for Transfer Degree developed at American River College in Sacramento, California. The presentation will cover issues that music programs face in the design and implementation of applied music and solutions to address those problems by developing asynchronous and synchronous online tools and curricula accessible to all students. Session Outline *Design of an online applied program *Technologies and tools for implementation of an online applied program -deep-link through an existing campus LMS -practice records -discussion boards -low-latency video conferencing -time-stamped peer-review video -mentor portal -mentor scheduling platform -juried final projects *Funding an online applied music program/course for music majors, non-majors, and extended education at affordable or no cost for the student and music department *Inclusion of applied studies in Non-Western traditions and ElectronicDigital Interface *Inclusion of students with individual and diverse needs through equitable design *Applications for establishing and/or increasing enrollment in a music program and support of current program offerings *Staffing and maintaining a comprehensive applied program in small or rural communities I’ll share our curriculum and design concept for an effective program that provides access to professional, global instruction using new AI learning tools and experts in individual study.
