Clarinet from the Podium: Ten pieces of feedback to improve your clarinet section's fundamentals

Saturday, January 25, 2025
3:00 PM - 3:45 PM

Description
In this session, aimed at ensemble directors, I will provide ten pieces of concrete and actionable feedback, with descriptions and demonstrations, that you can provide to the clarinet section of your ensembles. These items can be assessed, either visually or aurally, from the podium, and allow you to give real-time feedback, leading to immediate and often dramatic improvement in your section's sound. Items will range from general principals about the use of air, posture, embouchure, etc... to how to handle clarinet-specific challenges like crossing the break, throat tone intonation, and the altissimo register.
