Preparing Your Students for Solo and Ensemble

Saturday, January 25, 2025
10:00 AM - 10:45 AM

Description
We all want our students to succeed and S&E is an amazing opportunity for individual growth that can pay dividends in your entire program. Many of us prepare our students by ourselves, with minimal help from co-teachers or private lesson instructors. The S&E season is my favorite time of year. This session walks through the entire process including generating student interest, registering students, selecting music, working with an accompanist, empowering their practice routines, and preparing them for the performance day. We will walk through potential musical/practice pitfalls students fall into and how to prepare them for a successful performance. We will also discuss the non-musical life lessons that students can learn through this process. Handouts and links will be shared.
