This session will demonstrate ways that teachers can get students to actively listen in the general music classroom. Using puzzle cards and musical icon maps, students can get hands-on with challenging music that may otherwise seem inaccessible. Whether it is assembling the melody of an instrumental piece, discovering form, or learning the melody to a new classroom song, hands-on active listening can make students more attentive musicians.
