Description

Handbells and handchimes are an excellent instrument for teaching music curriculum concepts like steady beat, rhythm, note identification, dynamics etc. Additionally, kids LOVE them and become excited about music. Participants in class will have hands on experience with handbells and handchimes and leave with an understanding of the instrument, how to read and purchase music and resources, as well as their first three lesson plans ready to go!

Learning Objective 1
Participants will learn how to establish a handbell or handchime choir or use the instrument in the classroom; including how to assign bells, and learn techniques for playing bells and chimes and how to teach them to students.
Learning Objective 2
Participants will be given sample lesson plans to start a handbell or handchime choir will leave with songs that they can have students playing after one lesson.
Learning Objective 3
Participants will understand how to read handbell music, how to teach it to their students and where to find the best literature and resources to get started.
