Friday, January 24, 2025
9:00 AM - 9:45 AM

Description

Performing chamber music helps young players improve their musicianship and technique and develop their skills in communication, aural perception, problem-solving, and decision-making. It also prepares students for a lifelong outlet for music-making. In this session, the Western Brass Quintet (a faculty ensemble at WMU), along with a WMU student brass quintet, will discuss and demonstrate a variety of easy-advanced brass quintets from all stylistic periods. The presenters will also discuss common playing issues found in middle school and high school brass students with solutions for improving the sound of your brass sections.
