Setting Up Band Beginners for Lifelong Musical Enjoyment: A Panel Presentation

Description
This interactive panel discussion will present musicianship-focused strategies for the first year of beginning band and include panelists who start beginners at different ages (grades 5-6-7). Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and share ideas for the use of movement, counting/chanting, and singing/solfege in the effort to set the foundation for lifelong enjoyment of music that goes beyond the school band experience.

1. Participants will learn strategies for the use of gross and fine motor movement in the development of beat competency and instrument executive skills.
