Women Composers for the Viola: A Historical Journey
Friday, January 23, 2026
4:00 PM - 5:45 PM
Description
A common issue for both young and older violists is that of repertoire. While there are several well-known works written originally for the viola, there seems to be several original works that have been hidden, ignored or simply unknown by women composers of all time periods. This presentation will showcase these original compositions for viola by women, providing options for various skill levels (beginner-professional). Included in the presentation will be short performances of these works for solo viola or viola and piano.
