This presentation explores the history of how the 'ukulele was adapted from string instruments brought to Hawai'i, how the 'ukulele gained popularly in the Hawaiian Islands and later the mainland United States and beyond, and considers the advantages of using 'ukuleles in K-12 school settings. The presenter will also be sharing access to her review of 20+ published 'ukulele teaching resources that are easily accessible to music teachers who are interested in learning to play or teaching their students how to play the 'ukulele.
