Description
Unlocking the Power of the Voice and the Vagus Nerve is an interactive workshop designed for choral directors and music educators who want to support singers beyond technique. This session explores the science behind the voice and nervous system connection, offering practical tools to help students manage stress and unlock vocal freedom. Participants will learn how performance anxiety and nervous system dysregulation affect vocal production, and how to introduce safety into the body through voice-based and somatic techniques. Attendees will engage in experiential exercises like breathwork, toning, and gentle movement, to help singers regulate their nervous systems before, during, and after performance. These tools are simple, effective, and adaptable for rehearsal settings, empowering educators to create safer, more expressive musical environments. Rooted in both pedagogy and lived experience, Natasha Valdes offers a powerful new lens for vocal instruction, and one that supports both technical skill and emotional resilience in the choral classroom
