Reaching BIPOC Music Students with Culturally Sensitive Pedagogy

Description
In this session, we--a Black teacher and a White teacher--explore the meaning of culturally sensitive pedagogy in the context of strings/orchestra instruction. We identify issues that can arise in a class of diverse students, such as differing use of language and different ways of solving problems, We suggest strategies that will help with such issues, in order to provide a just, equitable, and safe environment for all students.
