Words and Music: Lyric-Writing in the Music Classroom

Friday, January 23, 2026
3:00 PM - 3:45 PM

Description
Lyrics are part of the music that most students (and teachers!) enjoy, but not always part of school music instruction. In this session, learn how lyric-writing activities can help build students' musicianship, not only in composition/songwriting classes, but also in choral music, instrumental music, general music, and music theory. Learn strategies for lyric-writing, lyric analysis, and connecting lyric-writing to vocal and instrumental repertoire and rehearsal.
