Structured Success: Routines and Procedures for an Effective Orchestra Classroom

Friday, January 23, 2026
1:00 PM - 1:45 PM

Description
This session will focus on tried and true routines and procedures used in the orchestra classroom to help rehearsal run smoothly. Students thrive in a predictable environment. I will share what works in my classroom such as student-led tuning routines, organizing materials in a way that allows the classroom to function effectively, to teaching students procedures such as entering the classroom and unpacking their materials to be ready for rehearsal. When we a clear picture of what the day-to-day organization looks like, it leaves more time for digging in to the music!
