Bringing an Irish Legend to Life in Song, Tune, Dance, and Drama

Friday, January 23, 2026
11:00 AM - 11:45 AM

Description
An Irish legend, The Children of Lir, is at the heart of a series of music lessons that engages elementary students in song, tune, dance, and drama. The workshop comprises an overview of the legend, a reading of a dramatized script based on the story, learning repertoire that is integrated into the narrative, drawing on native Irish songs, tunes, and dances. In the process, the re-telling and arrangement of the legend illustrate how a story can be modified for use in contemporary times and in cross-cultural contexts. Created for middle and upper elementary grades.
