Mixer for Music Educators and Composers

Description
As both a young music educator and a young composer, I find the idea of making connections and advertising for my own work to be daunting. It’s certainly difficult to find where to even begin, and I’m sure that there are many young music teachers and composers who feel the same way. How do I meet new composers/collaborators? How do I start a first-time consortium/commission or JOIN a first-time consortium and know that it will be worth it (that it won’t “flop”)? How do I support composition in my classroom when I’m just getting started myself? The thought of setting up a composer's booth for the first time can be very daunting, as well. These were some of the thoughts that inspired me to put together this special “Mixer for Music Educators and Composers” for MMC! This would be a casual event where young music educators and composers can learn from a panel of veteran teachers and composers who have experience with collaborations and consortiums. After a brief introduction and presentation, attendees are welcome to mingle and bring their own lunches/refreshments, as this is meant to be a fun and more casual event!
